RIP. Nick Cordero has died

What a way to wake up.

My heart is broken this morning. I've been following Amanda since March for any updates on Nick. I was so happy whwn she got to be in the same room with him for that precious photo of them holding hands.

I kept thinking that he's fought so hard, he has to come through the other end of this. He deserved the chance to see Elvis grow up.

Nick was 41. He was supposed to be "safe." COVID doesn't give a shit about your age, your health, your life.

Wear a mask. if not for you, then for other people. Think of Nick, a young father, with a baby, who had so much left to do in this life, and now is gone.

Imagine that you hold another person's life depends on it. It does.

Twenty Years, we're STILL in the same place

Watching "Trial By Media" on Netflix. This episode deals with when Guiliani won mayorship from David Dinkins, and about Amidou . 

And the argument about NYPD being pissed about Civilian Complaint Review Boards telling them what to do. 

Where under Guiliani, 4 NYPD officers sodomized Abner Louima in a bathroom; shooting unarmed Patrick Dorismond on a bogus drug charge THEY initiated; Eric Garner being murdered by NYPD using an illegal choke hold; And 1999, 4 NYPD officers shot an unarmed immigrant, Amadou Diallo, 41 times.  

The neighborhood complained of NYPD targeted harassment of blacks, of the "Street Crime" Unit. 

20 years has gone by, NOTHING has changed. NYPD still harass people, and innocent people are murdered because of the color of their skin.

Only thing that has changed in TWENTY years?  

9 more high profile police slaughters: Ousmane Zongo, Timothy Stansbury, Sean Bell, Oscar Grant, Aiyana Stanley-Jones, Ramarley Graham, Tamon Robinson, Rekia Boyd and Kimani Gray... All slaughtered by NYPD, and all receiving no justice from the courts.

TWENTY years ago, and it might as well have been this morning.
