Caught a few minutes of this show on the Documentary channel where they were talking with service men and women.
Every single one of them said they don't consider themselves to be heroes. They are protecting this country, and protecting people in other countries.
One soldier says he thinks those that have lost their lives in serving our country, or are in a hospital somewhere with life-changing injuries are the heroes.
Then they cut to someone in such a hospital, that said he didn't consider himself a hero, he was doing what he was meant to do.
That is the one thing that is so incredible about the men and women who go into the military. They aren't looking for fame or glory, they're looking to protect us, protect our country, protect people around the world who can't protect themselves. But they don't think they're doing anything extraordinary.
And that's what makes them extraordinary.
